Although the exact construction date of the S\u00fcmela Monastery, located in the Ma\u00e7ka district of Trabzon, is unknown, it is believed to have been built between 365 and 395 AD. It is said that on the same night, two monks dreamt of Jesus and Mary at the site where the S\u00fcmela Monastery now stands, and they built the monastery there. With its architecture and magnificent views, the S\u00fcmela Monastery is a must-see tourist attraction in Trabzon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. TRABZON CASTLE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trabzon Castle is located on the highest hill in the city. Built to prevent attacks from the sea, Trabzon Castle consists of three sections: the upper citadel, the middle citadel, and the lower citadel. 8. BEDESTEN<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bedestens are known as covered markets of the Ottoman period. Located in the city center of Trabzon, this bedesten is one of the oldest structures in the city. Included among the endowments of G\u00fclbahar Hatun, the mother of Yavuz Sultan Selim, this bedesten is the only example of a single-domed Turkish bedesten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. BOZTEPE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to see the endless Black Sea view and Trabzon from above, you should definitely visit Boztepe. Boztepe is a very popular place for tourists with its magnificent sunset views and clean air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. ST. ANNA (LITTLE AYVASIL) CHURCH<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built in the 7th century, this church is one of the oldest surviving churches in Trabzon. The structure is a basilica with three naves and three apses, and remnants of frescoes can be found inside. The church is among the city's important historical buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
